What Is a PVD Coating Machine?

time2011/10/10

PVD (Physical Vapor Deposition) coating is a high quality thin film that can be used for a variety of decorative and functional applications. The powder coating machines utilize the cathodic arc principles to deposit the vapor on household appliances, plumbing fixtures, jewelry, and electronic components.
Cathodic Arc
Cathodic arc is a vapor deposition technique where an electric arc is used to vaporize material from an electrode. The vaporized material settles on a surface, and forms a thin film.
PVD machine
PVD coating machines are fitted with at least 4 arc cathodes, more cathodes allow a shorter cycle time when applying the thin coating. When the machine starts a high current, low voltage arc is created on the item that will be coated. The metal from the powder coating machine is evaporated and ionized, those ions are accelerated at high energy into the vacuum through an inert gas deposited on the item.
Types of coating
Coatings are divided up into two main groups, a hard ceramic coatings and low powder coating machine. Low friction coatings reduce the amount particulates from sticking to the surface of the coated item. Hard ceramic coatings improve overall hardness and also increase protection against wear, corrosion, and oxidation.
